Neuro-Fit Alumni Mentorship Network

Neuro-Fit’s Alumni Mentorship Network enriches the internship experience for previous, current, and prospective interns. Current interns have the unique opportunity to be matched with a mentor who has previously interned at Neuro-Fit and shares their passions and career aspirations. Interns can ask questions, seek advice, and gain firsthand knowledge about how the Neuro-Fit internship experience influenced their career path.

The mentorship program serves as an excellent resource for interns navigating their career path, applying to graduate school, and staying connected with SLI. By fostering these connections, interns build lasting relationships, access valuable resources, and pave the way for success in their chosen fields.

A majority of students that intern at Neuro-Fit continue their education following their undergraduate degree. Neuro-Fit Alumni have completed degrees in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and more.

Kayla K., Exercise Science major at UMass Lowell

“The biggest takeaway I’ve gotten from my intern experience has been a shift in my outlook on life. Working with the patients and seeing them continue to persevere despite the various obstacles they have faced in life is very inspiring. There is nothing more rewarding than helping patients progress and achieve goals they never believed that they would achieve.”

Payton H., Exercise Science major at Endicott College

“Interning at SLI has easily been one of the best decisions of my life. It brings me so much joy to know that I am a part of something so much bigger than myself.”

Rachel G., OTD graduate from Tufts University

“I think the internship helped me understand the importance of approaching every person I meet with a curious and open mind. Both as an intern and OT, it’s so important to get to know the person you’re working with on an individual level, so you can tailor sessions to fit their goals, rather than taking a “one-size fits all” approach. At SLI, I learned how to ask questions to help me understand participants’ unique life experiences, perceptions, and motivations, and then used this to create and adapt fitness programs. Similarly, in OT, I ask questions to learn about a client’s strengths and challenges, and then we collaborate to create a plan that helps them achieve their goals”.

Maggie L., Biology major at Tufts University

“Neuro-Fit rounds out a resume nicely, but also hones in on those soft communication skills that graduate schools are now looking for. I am grateful for my experience as an intern because I now understand that progress looks different for everyone and I feel prepared to support them appropriately.”

Adhithri R., Neuroscience major at Brandeis University

“As an aspiring medical student, it made me feel better to know that quality patient care starts with building a connection; I learned that here at Neuro-Fit.”
